Dinner Party Games

Ideas for 80 Dinner Party Games

80s Dinner Parties can be a great time - relive the days of Cindy Lauper, Flock of Seagulls, and Neon Green with your friends!

When focusing on the 80s (or any era, for that matter) there's a few things to prepare for to take your dinner parties from good to great.

The first question you should ask is - will your guests be reliving an era, or just visiting it?

We're now in a generation where not everybody grew up going through the 80s - in fact, some people never really got to experience it. This question has more bearing on the 50s, 60s, and 70s, however the 80s are (too) quickly becoming part of this group.

If your guests lived through the 80s, then you should strive for authenticity - with music make sure you have the big hits, but also strive to have some of the cult classics available as well.

If your guests didn't live through the 80s, then the most successful parties often overdo the theme a little.

For dinner party games, here's a few suggestions:

- 80s TV Trivia

Quiz your friends on the stars and stories of the 80s. The 80s were great for the sitcom era, and there's a lot of potential here

- Twister!

Bring out the old colored polka dot mat and play everybody's favorite party game! You're guaranteed to have at least one person who thinks that they can do a reversal to get left hand blue!

- Spin the bottle

Spin the bottle was the classic of 80s dinner party games. At an older age, this will be a great activity for inciting jealousy between spouses!

- Truth or Dare

Before there was the internet and facebook there was.... truth or dare! Quiz your friends on things they did (or didn't) do.

- 80s Karaoke

Belt out the classics! You can work this into other dinner party games - the prize of losing (or winning!) can be to get up and sing a certain song!

We really do miss the 80s. So haul those 80s clothes out of the closet and set up your next dinner party!
